Chef Daniel Boulud Brings French Tradition to West Coast + New Chef AF Rating
Café Boulud Beverly Hills at Mandarin Oriental Residences
Originally from Lyon, France, Chef Daniel Boulud has earned recognition as one of America's foremost culinary authorities. With a career that started in New York City in 1982, Boulud has continuously evolved his cuisine and expanded his reach to properties across the United States, as well as internationally in Toronto, Montreal, Dubai, Singapore, and The Bahamas.
Despite his many accolades, Boulud remains grounded in the rhythm of the seasons, drawing inspiration from the freshest ingredients and culinary traditions. From his flagship restaurant, DANIEL, to his establishments worldwide, Boulud's signature style is known for its contemporary appeal and soulful dishes rooted in the French tradition.
Recently, the Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur announced further details about his first venture on the West Coast - Café Boulud Beverly Hills. This new restaurant is set to open its doors to the public in late 2023 and will be located at the Mandarin Oriental Residences Beverly Hills, a boutique condominium development by luxury real estate investment and development firm SHVO.
For Boulud, the Café Boulud brand holds special significance, as it is named after the original Café Boulud that was started by his great-grandparents on their family farm outside of Lyon, France. Boulud's rendition of this heritage is focused on four inspirations: La Tradition, featuring classic French dishes; La Saison, highlighting seasonal specialties of the market; Le Potager, showcasing vegetable garden-inspired creations; and Le Voyage, bringing exotic flavors from around the world to the menu.
Situated at 9200 Wilshire Boulevard, the Mandarin Oriental Residences Beverly Hills is the first new condominium development in the area in a decade. Comprising of fifty-four private residences, the property offers legendary services and amenities associated with the Mandarin Oriental brand, along with the added security and privacy of an exclusive residence, setting a new standard for luxury condominium living. In addition to the restaurant, Chef Boulud will also operate a private dining service, Boulud Prive, exclusive to the residents and the rooftop pool terrace at the Mandarin Oriental Residences Beverly Hills, as well as its sister property, the Mandarin Oriental Residences Fifth Avenue.
“I have been visiting Los Angeles for more than 30 years and have many fond memories from filming a tv series, ‘After Hour,’ with chefs and restaurants across the city many years ago. I always teased Wolfgang that if he opened a restaurant in New York, I would open a restaurant in LA. After the opening of Cut, this is a promise delivered,” said Chef Daniel Boulud. “Café Boulud Beverly Hills will be able to take advantage of the fresh, vibrant market, which I am looking forward to sourcing local produce from and is the foundation for the City’s thriving culinary scene.”
The design of Café Boulud Beverly Hills will be led by renowned artistic director Marc Ange, adding a touch of creativity and sophistication to the dining experience. This new restaurant will join the existing establishments under the Café Boulud brand in Toronto, the Bahamas, Blantyre, and New York City, further solidifying Chef Daniel Boulud's culinary empire and his commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences rooted in the French tradition.
The upcoming Café Boulud Beverly Hills at the Mandarin Oriental Residences is set to be a highly anticipated addition to the West Coast dining scene. With Chef Daniel Boulud's unwavering dedication to culinary excellence and his unique interpretation of French tradition, food enthusiasts can expect a memorable dining experience in a luxurious and exclusive setting.
