HoneyBunny Chicken and Biscuits: A Culinary Love Letter to Chesapeake Bay Lands in New York City
James Beard Foundation Launches Good To Go
The aroma of Maryland-style comfort food is about to permeate the air around Market 57 at Pier 57. James Beard Foundation, in a pioneering move, has tapped chef Jared Howard’s highly-acclaimed HoneyBunny Chicken and Biscuits for its Good To Go by JBF Residency, slated to begin on September 1, 2023.
With this innovative six-month culinary partnership, championed by PEPSI® Dig In, New Yorkers will get a taste of the Chesapeake Bay, right in the heart of the city.
Savoring the Flavors of Maryland with Chef Jared Howard
HoneyBunny’s much-celebrated menu, exclusively available at Good To Go, will be an exploration of the cuisine, food, culture, and nostalgia of Chesapeake Bay. Fried chicken paired with garlic-butter biscuits, fresh seafood, shared sides, and decadent desserts are only a fraction of the gourmet experience curated by chef Howard.
Named after Howard’s daughter, HoneyBunny’s ethos is steeped in family, love, community, and comfort. The dishes are an homage to Howard’s Maryland childhood and a tight-knit family’s love of good food.
From boneless chicken thigh biscuit sandwiches adorned with pickled green tomatoes and Shiitake Bechamel Sauce to Chesapeake Seafood Burgers boasting crab and shrimp patties, the menu is a rich tapestry of Mid-Atlantic flavors served on a contemporary platter.
Good To Go: A Platform for Culinary Brilliance
With Good To Go, James Beard Foundation is not just presenting mouth-watering food but also fostering a mission. COO and President of The James Beard Foundation, Kris Moon, expressed the excitement to back operators who share the Foundation's vision.
HoneyBunny, Moon noted, is a “natural choice” for Good To Go's first resident, thanks to Howard's commitment to sustainability goals, sourcing organic ingredients, and cultivating a community-centered culinary experience.
A Partnership for Growth
PEPSI® Dig In’s collaboration with the James Beard Foundation for this residency ensures an amplification of Black-owned restaurants and chefs. A testament to PEPSI® Dig In’s mission to foster growth and visibility, this partnership aligns with the initiative's goals.
Scott Finlow, Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo Global Foodservice, hailed this as an opportunity for more food enthusiasts to discover chef Howard's creations while providing him the hands-on training essential for the long-term growth of his venture.

Market 57 at Pier 57 is now a culinary melting pot where creative innovation meets ethically sourced deliciousness. With Good To Go, emerging chefs and food entrepreneurs are given a space to realize their culinary dreams, and HoneyBunny is poised to make a spectacular splash.
